InQuest Technologies, Inc. today announced the general availability of the InQuest IQ9 Release 3.0

Southborough, MA – March 3rd, 2008 - The 3.0 release of InQuest IQ9 delivers tremendous new capabilities found nowhere else in the industry. New features such as Portability enable our customers and partners to share and evolve their existing SmartApp business solutions across their InQuest IQ9 deployments, while enhanced analysis and reporting tools provide customers with additional insights into their processes. In addition, the flexibility and usability of InQuest IQ9 continues to be enhanced with features such as workflow delegation, CAD Templates, global address books, information binders, Google Map mashups, image management, and IBM FileNet integration.
“For the last two years, IQ9 has been the only enterprise platform where business users can configure powerful, workflow driven web-applications with zero coding, and then use them as either a licensed on-site deployment or Software as a Service (SaaS) deployment. With this release, IQ9 enables another industry first by supporting the exchange and sharing of SmartApp applications by companies in the InQuest user community. As the InQuest user community continues to grow, we expect the number of shared SmartApps to grow tremendously as well,” said Graham Lubie, Vice President of Marketing of InQuest.
New features and functionality in this InQuest IQ9 release include:
Solution Portability
A cornerstone of the 3.0 release is SmartApp Portability. With the new Portability tools, partners and customers are now able to quickly and easily design, configure and deploy new SmartApp solutions across servers. Using InQuest IQ9 Portability, new or updated project and process related business applications can be deployed on InQuest IQ9 without the typical installation issues found in other applications.
The foundation of solution portability is InQuest IQ9’s open Microsoft .NET architecture, which supports the movement of SmartApps from one server to another. With portability, customers can configure new SmartApps on a sandbox server before deploying the SmartApp to their production site. Partners are able to develop SmartApps that leverage their industry expertise and deliver those solutions to customers without the complex server updates, application configuration, user migrations and re-training typically needed when deploying new applications.
Workflow Delegation
InQuest IQ9’s Workflow Engine enables customers to develop complex, workflow driven applications that cross corporate boundaries. With the 3.0 release, workflow tasks can now also be easily assigned between users, roles and groups while still preserving the security and auditability of InQuest IQ9 process flows. Users with security access can delegate and assign tasks from one user to another across the site.
Workflow Reporting
Workflow reporting tools get a boost in this release. Users are now able to identify process bottlenecks so that they can be eliminated and optimized. This level of analysis and reporting has been made available for individual workflows as well as at an aggregate level for summarizations and roll-ups.
Workflow Rewind
Using the Workflow Rewind feature, authorized system users are able to return to previous steps in a workflow process. All security settings and workflow information and changes are tracked in a secure audit trail.
PDF Builder
Secure distribution of information is critical to all organizations. This release includes PDF builder functionality which automates the creation of compound documents in an Adobe PDF format. Documents can be added to the PDF individually or as a group and can then be distributed with the assurance that no files can be removed or added undetected.
Document Templates
Enforcing design and naming standards across locations, processes and projects is a challenge for most organizations. InQuest IQ9 solves the problem with Document Templates. When creating new files, users are now able to select predefined Microsoft Office or CAD templates as starting-points. For CAD files, users are able to have their file title-blocks automatically populated and updated from the system’s metadata. This information is fully searchable and available for reporting.
IBM FileNet Integration
InQuest IQ9 now supports integration with IBM FileNet and extends the capabilities of FileNet to include the management of Engineering, Design and Construction documents. With InQuest IQ9, FileNet users are able to more effectively manage their CAD and GIS information - anytime, anywhere - with nothing more than a web browser.
Internationalization
Driven by continued international interest in InQuest IQ9, the 3.0 release now supports multi-language international deployments. Supported languages include English and Spanish with more to come in the near future. As an open architecture, additional languages can be easily and quickly added to InQuest IQ9 with translation files.
Address Book
Easily finding contacts across your corporation, customer base or partner network is now possible. Using InQuest IQ9’s Address Book features, new contact databases can be created at the enterprise, project, process and individual user levels. Using Microsoft Exchange integration, new users can be automatically added to any IQ9 address book.
Information Binders (personal and global)
Manage groups of links to information as personal or global binders. Regardless of where information is stored on the Site, the Information Binders provide an easy way to aggregate information and make the information available to others.
Google Maps Mashup
InQuest Technologies delivers an industry first by allowing enterprise users to map their documents, data and assets using a Google Maps mashup. Simply by dragging thumbnails of a document onto the Google map assigns latitude and longitude values to it. Each document then appears as an icon on the map. By clicking on the icon, the documents property sheet can be viewed. This ability for users to assign documents and data to specific locations is especially valuable for organizations with a large number of physical and digital assets spread across locations.
Multi-file Uploader
Upload multiple files, including DWGs and their XREFs, by dragging and dropping the files directly into InQuest IQ9. All security, metadata and other document rules are automatically enforced.
Image Management Support
InQuest IQ9 significantly enhances its Image Management capabilities with the 3.0 release. New capabilities include image uploading, image categorization, markup, GeoCoding of images as well as viewing groups of images as part of a slideshow. All images are treated as document types and benefit from InQuest IQ9’s content services such as check-in/check-out and file routing.
“I am extremely pleased to offer the 3.0 Release of InQuest IQ9 to our customers and partners. InQuest IQ9 is the preeminent solution for managing information spread across the country or around the world. Over the next quarter, exciting new capabilities leveraging the functionality in this release will continue to reinforce InQuest Technologies’ standing as an industry leader.” Michael Colapietro, CEO, InQuest Technologies.
